April News and Events

  • Steampunk CommuniTea Weekend – April 9th-12th. Look for Alex Acks and Catherine Lundoff at this fun new online event! They’ll both be on panels as well as roaming around on Discord. And Alex’s titles, Murder on the Titania and Wireless are both on sale this weekend when you buy them direct from us!
  • So You Want to Put Together an Anthology? – Rambo Academy for Wayward Writers, online. April 10th, 9:30-11:30 AM PST. Catherine Lundoff will be teaching this class. What goes into creating an anthology? How do you find authors? Decide to pitch it to a publisher or indie publish? And what do you do with it when you’re done?
  • Publishing Basics for Genre Writers – April 14th, 6:00-8:00 PM CST. Zoom, Springboard for the Arts. Catherine will be teaching this interactive online workshop for Springboard, a Minnesota nonprofit.
  • Flights of Foundry – April 16-18th, online sf/f/h con. Catherine  and new QoSPress author Rem Wigmore will be on programming and we will have a Queen of Swords table in the virtual Dealer’s Room.

March Events and News!

New Author welcome! We’re going to be publishing new novels by New Zealand Rem Wigmore and Minnesota author and literary agent Jenny Goloboy later on in 2021!

Rem’s novel Foxhunt is queer post apocalyptic hopepunk and claimed NZ artist Laya Rose has just agreed to do the cover and we think you’ll love it!
Jennie’s book, Obviously, Aliens, is a fun-filled romp of a roadtrip with aliens and will give us another title in our growing list of speculative fiction titles by Upper Midwest authors! More news about both books coming soon!

  • Smashwords Read an Ebook Week Sale – get all of our books on sale this week at Smashwords!
  • Scratch & Dent Sale! We’ve had some books come back as returns that have some small amounts of cover damage and we’re putting them on sale!   1. Very excited and pleased to say that The Voyages of Cinrak the Dapper by A.J. Fitzwater is on the 2020 Locus Recommended Reading List! Which means that you can vote for it for the Locus Awards, if you are so inclined, as we hope you are! Cinrak was also on recommended reading lists for the Hugo Awards, the Nebula Awards, the Ursa Major Awards and, as of this weekend, the Sir Julius Vogel Awards so if you can vote on any of these, we hope that it makes your list too.
  2. Speaking of A.J., be sure and read their thoughtful new essay, “The Waters of This Place,” at Strange Horizons.
  3. This weekend, February 4th-7th, please join us at Capricon 41. Capricon is going online for the first time and Catherine Lundoff is on multiple programming items and will be reading from her forthcoming novel, Blood Moon. The schedule looks amazing and DreamHaven Books will have a virtual “booth” so you can buy our books there too!
  4. Next month we’ll have some announcements about forthcoming books. Be sure to check back then for all the exciting news!

  • Rainbow Space Magic – March 12th-14th, online LGBTQ+ science fiction convention – Catherine will be back on programming and possibly vending with Queen of Swords Press.

  • Blood Moon, the long-awaited sequel to Catherine Lundoff’s Silver Moon, will be out on March 15th, 2021, featuring more adventures with Becca, Erin and the Wolf’s Point Pack! Preorders are now open for the ebook edition. Stay tuned for the link to preorder your physical copy!

Some thoughts on turning 4, from the publisher:

  • Wow! I can’t believe we made it! Thanks for buying our books or plugging our books or reviewing our books and/or supporting our Patreon, hosting us and all the other things so many of you fine folks do!
  • In 4 years, we’ve put out 10 books that we’re really proud of, including works by terrific authors like Alex Acks and A.J. Fitzwater and the authors in Scourge of the Sea of Time (and Space).
  • We’ve gotten to work with some great artists and other professionals, done projects with other small presses and participated in a whole LOT of events. These have included a couple of Worldcons, 6 book festivals around the world, a ton of podcasts and blog posts and online events a bunch of conventions, several steampunk festivals and multiple bookstore events, plus things I’m probably forgetting about. Thank you and we hope you stay tuned for more!
